Who Should Attend: Project Managers and Estimators

How is Management on Your Projects?  Indications are that one of the biggest problems facing our industry at this time, is the lack of effective project management. With the shortage of labor and the lack of properly trained project managers, it seems no job is going as planned. Your Association is going to do something about this.  Thanks to funding provided by the Sheldon Shapiro Foundation and the foresight of your Board of Directors, ASA of Metro Washington will bring Kevin Dougherty, a superstar in the industry, for expert training on issues like:

  • Introduction to the basics of project management
  • The five prominent reasons jobs make or lose money and how to use this information for your advantage
  • The Kick-off meeting
  • The Pre-Planning meeting
  • Chaos management
  • Project Communication
  • Interval planning “dividing the planning process into manageable tasks”
  • Job site organization
  • Job meetings
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Tracking and monitoring jobsite conditions such as: stacking of trades, project access, job continuity, safety, information flow and many others.
  • Time management
  • Using the project review for improvement

About Our Speaker: For over 30 years Kevin L. Dougherty has been speaking to the construction industry. Kevin represents a changing industry - aggressive, realistic, and open-minded.  Kevin's work and education experience enables him to relate to today's problems and provides tangible solutions in an easy-to-listen style.  He has taught thousands of people in various seminars.  His client base ranges from family-owned businesses to corporate conglomerates. In addition to speaking and writing articles, Kevin has served as, foreman, Journeyman, sales manager, project manager, operations manager, and corporate trainer for a multimillion-dollar specialty  specialty services contractor.  Kevin has also been a frequent speaker for various SMACNA, MCAA, MSCA, NECA, NFPC, SMART, U.A. PHCC, ISA, SBA, and other trade associations. Kevin's humorous and energetic speaking style has made him a convention favorite.  He has spoken to such groups as Benjamin Moore & Co., 3M, Johnson Controls, W.R. Grace, Ferguson Enterprises, Morton International, Manville/Schuler, and Hagemeyer Electrical Australia, just to name a few. Kevin's ability to entertain audiences and hold their interest while getting his message across consistently makes him one of the industries top speaking and training talents.

This program is possible thanks to the Sheldon Shapiro Charitable Foundation.
