Subcontractors don’t intentionally take on too much work.  The best plans to level backlog are often thwarted when project starts get delayed or project durations become extended.  This panel will address how we as an industry can work together to find a win-win-win among the Subs, GCs and Owners.   Have you ever wanted to know:

  • When do subs say “no” to a project offered by a GC?

  • How do fast payments, low/no retainage, and timely processing of change orders affect how GC’s and Subs perform on a project?

  • How are safety, quality, and schedule affected by our industry’s full employment situation?

  • What tools do GCs have in preconstruction and in operations to manage subcontractors that they think have too much work?

  • Should owners’ expectations for high quality and on-time delivery be reduced even as prices go up?

  • What is the best delivery method in this economy, bid-build or design-build?

  • What technologies are being implemented to improve productivity in light of the shrinking labor pool?
